“A simple machine adjustment increased production by approximately 4% using the same amount of casing.”

Improving output without increasing costs or changing production setups is always valuable—but often difficult to achieve. Many optimizations require investment, process changes, or additional equipment.

In some cases, however, a small adjustment can make a measurable difference.

Thanks to the flexibility of cellulose casings, fewer twists between portions can often be used without the risk of untwisting, depending on the calibre and application. This simple change reduces the amount of casing consumed in each link, increasing the number of portions produced per strand.

Tests conducted on several calibres showed consistent improvements in output. For example, reducing the number of twists on calibre US 25 resulted in 11 additional portions per strand. Across a full bundle, this corresponded to approximately a 4% increase in production using the same amount of casing.

The optimization itself is straightforward and does not require new equipment or process changes. In most cases, it is simply a matter of adjusting a machine parameter.

Key benefits include:

  • Higher output from the same material
  • Lower cost per portion
  • Improved efficiency without investment
  • More value from existing production setups

By combining the flexibility of cellulose casings with the right machine settings, producers can unlock additional value from their current process—simply and effectively.
