The challenge
A leading meat processor in Germany challenged ViskoTeepak to develop a fibrous casing capable of performing reliably in automated production with robotic peeling. Existing solutions worked in traditional systems, but automation required improved glide, peelability, and efficiency.
One casing, three improvements
The solution combined three key advancements in one tailor-made casing:
- Improved glide for smooth stuffing and peeling
- Enhanced peelability through strengthened IT+ performance
- Extended shirring length of 120 meters, enabling fewer changeovers and higher efficiency
Proven in production
Developed in close collaboration between R&D and production teams, the casing was validated through full-scale production runs. The results showed improved peel behavior, smooth automation, and consistent performance in the customer’s ham application.
Raising the bar
This tailor-made development demonstrates how ViskoTeepak designs solutions around customer processes—raising the bar for fibrous casing performance in automated production lines.
