When José Garcia joined ViskoTeepak in 2016, he brought more than 16 years of experience in automation, maintenance engineering and equipment reliability from the automotive industry. Today, as Production General Supervisor in Nuevo Laredo, his perspective on what makes a strong operation goes far beyond machines and technology.
For José, it starts with people. Being present on the production floor, building trust and giving employees the confidence to make decisions are central to how he approaches leadership.
“I don’t believe in traditional top-down management. I prefer that everyone knows their goals clearly so they feel empowered to make decisions during their shift.”
Over the past decade, José has seen both the plant and its people develop. Long-standing challenges have been addressed, productivity has strengthened, and teams have grown increasingly independent. Despite his extensive technical background, one of his biggest lessons at ViskoTeepak has been the importance of human capability.
“I realized that there is no automation system in the world that can match human capability, the sense of belonging, and the heart that our team puts into every single task.”
