Cellulose casing meeting vegetarian demands

The growth in vegetarian foods in recent years has made them available to a wider population of consumers. Thus, meat-free eating habits have become more practical and desirable. This trend has also penetrated the sausage business and is currently on the rise.

ViskoTeepak’s cellulose casings are an excellent choice for a wide range of vegetarian applications. Both our Wienie-Pak and Fibrous product lines are cellulose-based casings and, needless to say, products that are free of meat protein.

Meat-free sausages can be made in various ways. For example, from TVP (textured vegetable protein), tofu, Quorn or cheese mixed with breadcrumbs, flour and other ingredients. Vegetarian sausages can also be made from a base of cereals and grains such as chickpeas, polenta and quinoa mixed with other vegetables, herbs and spices.
